'Onism explores the frustration of being stuck in just one body, that inhabits only one place at a time, which is like standing in front of the departures screen at an airport, flicking over strange place names, each representing one more thing you'll never get to see before you die - and all because, as the arrow on the map helpfully points out, you are here.'
The one woman show, staged in darkness, is a thought provoking piece taking on current affairs. It is a touching reminder of the fragility of life whilst constantly questioning ones mortality and choices. Onism was inspired by a commute on a Moscow tube, in which a female suicide bomber brought the lives of 36 people to an end. This piece has been designed to leave the audience to question if they will ever leave the room.
The 20-minute performance acts as a journey for the audience to explore their lives and the choices that they have made until they have entered the space that day. The performance is a hard hitting, emotional rollercoaster that asks the questions that need to be asked of ourselves, our lives, our society and our world.
